During the week of final exams, the University makes numerous spaces available for studying, holding review sessions, and getting extra help to prepare for exams. Whether you are studying with friends or need some quiet time alone, there are plenty of spaces to accommodate your needs.
On Wednesday, Dec.3, the University will hold a reading day, allowing all students time to focus on preparing for final exams. The Donna E. Shalala Student Center will convert most of their conference rooms into quiet study spaces. The Norman A. Whitten University Center will also have several spaces available on the second floor. For students who are looking to study outside, hammocks and gliders are available throughout the Coral Gables Campus. In addition, Finish Strong offers faculty review sessions throughout the day by subject in the Lakeside Village Expo Center and in other spaces on campus. They are also offering late night study tables with faculty members from 7 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 3, 4, and 7. See more details below.
The Camner Center for Academic Resources, Math Laboratory, and Writing Center also offer tutoring by appointment.
The Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center has opened a dedicated space for relaxation—a meditation room on the second floor—which features a calming playlist and a RelaxSpace Pod, a covered recliner that is designed to reduce stress for relaxation and mindfulness. Students can visit the center from 8 a.m. to midnight and they are hosting a special Study Sanctuary on Thursday, December 4 from 8 a.m. - midnight on the second floor, now called the Wellness Hub.
Students also have access to various study spots within the residential colleges. These hidden gems, open 24/7, give students the opportunity to study outside their rooms while still having the privacy needed to focus. The University offers a variety of study spaces and resources for students during final exams, so be sure to take full advantage of them.
The Wellness Center is also hosting a Study Sanctuary on Thursday, December 4 from 8 a.m. - midnight on the second floor, Wellness Hub. Students can study or recharge with snacks, tea, wellness activities and more.
