In two ceremonies on Thursday, 547 undergraduate and 471 graduate students walked across the stage at the Watsco Center during the University of Miami’s
J.R. Martinez, a veteran who survived a harrowing Humvee explosion, spoke to undergraduates at the 10 a.m. ceremony. Vincent K. Omachonu, an industrial engineer focused on improving health care systems and a renowned educator serving as interim dean of the College of Engineering, spoke to graduates earning their law, doctoral, and master’s degrees at the 3 p.m. ceremony.
