The University of Miami’s Coral Gables Campus buzzed with energy as incoming Canes and their families arrived, cars packed and smiles wide, for move-in day. The milestone marks the official start of Cane Kickoff 2025, the University’s signature orientation program designed for first-year and transfer students and organized by the Department of Orientation and Commuter Student Involvement.
Over the course of the week—Monday, Aug. 11 through Sunday, Aug. 17—new students dove into activities and events that will help them connect with new classmates, explore campus, and immerse themselves in the vibrant traditions of the U.
This year, as the University celebrates its Centennial, more than 3,000 new students from across the country and around the world begin their journey as Canes, carrying forward the legacy of the past 100 years.
